Complete: Chelt Emergency Network Maintenance

November 28th, 2011

Update:

Maintenance has been completed. Thanks for your patience.

Good Evening,

Further to our email sent at 15:04, it has become necessary to issue an emergency maintenance notification where the line card in one of the Telehouse (London) Core Routers will be replaced. The issues we faced earlier were due to a faulty card, we were then put onto a backup card whilst tests continued and a replacement was sent to the datacentre.

Engineers are now on-site and will be replacing the faulty card today at the time below:

Start: 19:00 (GMT)
End: 19:30 (GMT)

Whilst we aim for as little customer impact as possible, some customers may see a few minutes outage whilst routes update.

Once again, thanks for your continued support and patience. If you have any questions, our Support Desk and Website will be available throughout. Wolverhampton customers are not affected.

[Complete] [At-Risk] Wolverhampton UPS Maintenance

January 7th, 2011

Dear All,

We have been advised by our Datacentre providers in Wolverhampton that they need to perform maintenance work on the UPS units that feed the facility during the following maintenance window:

Date: 10-01-2011
Time: 8:00am – 10:00am
Duration: 2 Hours
Services Affected: Web & Reseller Hosting, Some Dedicated Servers and Co-location clients.

During this window, power may be temporarily switched to bypass which will keep the facility live while all work is carried out. We expect there to be no impact to customers during this maintenance, however, the facility should be considered at risk due to only having one viable power source.

Whilst our own engineers are based on-site daily from 9am to 6pm, we will have staff on-site from 7am especially for this maintenance.

For health and safety reasons, any co-location and lockable rack-space customers wishing to attend site will not be permitted access while these works are carried out.

Thank you for your co-operation during this time, further information on the progress will be posted at www.veloxservstatus.co.uk

Many Thanks,
Craig Messer

*UPDATE 08:00*
UPS Engineers are on-site and work is underway.

*UPDATE 10:00*
Work has over-run, we expect the completion time to be around 12:00 – The system has been switched to bypass mode temporarily. This was successful and no power loss occurred.
We will update here once we have more information.

*UPDATE 13:00*
The work is further delayed, due to the UPS engineers finding a fault with one of the UPS Units which is now being replaced. We understand the time taken has drastically ran over our promised time but, are pleased that issues are being identified beforehand. This will further guarantee reliability should we need to rely on the UPS’ in the event of a power outage.

More information to follow, thanks for your patience.

*UPDATE 15:00*
All work is now complete and we are now running back on the N+1 UPS configuration, no outage occurred, thank you for your patience.
