[Complete] Power / Rack Maintenance 04-08-10

August 4th, 2010

Dear All,

It has become necessary to carry out emergency maintenance on our First Rack in the Wolverhampton Datacentre.

During these works, all servers in that rack will be powered off one-by-one, whilst we move them to a new rack which is capable of drawing up to 32amps of power, as opposed to the current 16amps limit.

We sincerely apologise for the late notice of this, but these works have only just been confirmed from the datacentre operators just over 30 minutes ago. Could we please ask that any customers wishing for their machine’s to be powered down ‘cleanly’, shut down their machines by 22:30.

We endevaour to get all machines back up as quickly as possible and again must apologise for this late notice.

Planned Window Details:
Date: 04/08/10
Time: 22:00pm onwards
Affected: Web Hosting & Reseller Hosting. Some Dedicated Servers and Colocation customers (you have recieved this email if you are affected)
Duration: ~3 hours

Below is a schedule of the maintenance window. Please note, times may vary depending on circumstances
during the day.

22:00 - The new rack will be prepared, all Core switching and PDU’s will be installed and powered on.
22:30 – Hardware will be removed from our existing rack, one machine at a time. (Our Webservers will be moved last)
23:00 – Auditing and Cabling will be taking place.
23:15 – All services should be online.
23:30+ – Final checks to ensure all auditing is complete and accurate and that all services are online.

As with any maintenance windows, our apologies for any inconvenience that may be caused but studying
network usage patterns, we believe the suggested window should cause the least disruption.

Please don’t hesitate to call me should you need any assistance during the maintenance window on my mobile (which has been emailed to you) – Thank you very much for your co-operation,

Craig Messer

[UPDATE]
This maintenance is now complete, please log a ticket if your machine is not back up.

Craig

*UPDATE – 04:17*

The method in which we wanted to transfer the backups doesn’t seem to be working at present, we have installed new hard drives into LinuxWeb2 and are re-installing right now.

Craig

*UPDATE – 07:00*
New hard drives, O/S and cPanel have been successfully installed onto this server. We have restored all websites and will continue to monitor.

Apologies for the downtime, thanks for your patience.

[Complete] Webserver Migrations and Upgrades

June 3rd, 2010

Due to our recent issues with delivering email, we will be moving all Web Hosting services to our Wolverhampton Network.

We are also taking this opportunity to upgrade to new, faster hardware. As always we have allocated a maintenance window which has little impact on service.

Date: 6th June 2010

Note: Resellers will need to obtain new IP addresses from us. DNS propagation should complete within 24 – 48 hours.

We must apologise for the short notice but, as I’m sure you can understand our clients must come first. It’s important to us that our email services can be used without disruption.

Should any clients have any issues, please log a support ticket at the following URL: http://www.veloxserv.co.uk/clientarea/submitticket.php

Thanks for your continued support, with Kind Regards,

Craig Messer
